Dr. Lida Radfar

Background

My dental training includes a doctorate degree DDS (doctor of dental surgery), followed by General Practice Residency (hospital dentistry), a Masters in Oral Biology, a certificate in Oral Medicine, and a certificate in Clinical Research.  I completed my Oral Medicine fellowship training in July 1997. I have been a diplomate of American Board of Oral Medicine since 2001.  My oral medicine training included Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) and facial pain assessment, diagnosis and  treatment, assessment and diagnosis of oral lesions including oral cancer and their treatment, dry mouth, and management of medicaly complex patients, pre and post chemotherapy and radiation therapy. I am trained in implantolgy as well.  
Presently I am working as a Clinical Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Oklahoma, College of Dentistry, Department of Oral Diagnostic & Radiology. My responsibilities are teaching didactic and clinical courses to dental students and post graduate residents. My private practice is a comprehensive dental and oral care clinic. This clinic provide service in all aspects of dentistry including preventing care (evaluation and cleaning), oral cancer screening, fillings, crown and bridge, implant, dentures, TMJ, oral ulcers, and dry mouth patients.
My research background included: conducting clinical research, and consult in the Salivary Gland Dysfunction/ Sjögren's Syndrome Clinic at the Gene Therapy and Therapeutics Branch (GTTB), National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  My responsibilities in the Salivary Gland Dysfunction/ Sjögren's Syndrome Clinic were evaluating and diagnosing salivary gland disorders through clinical examinations, immunologic assays, collecting saliva, and performing minor salivary gland biopsies.  I was also a consultant for Oral Medicine & medically compromised patients in the Dental Clinic at the NIH. 
I served as Principal Investigator and co-investigator at the NIDCR/ NIH, and the Oklahoma Medical Research foundation (OMRF) in several studies. I have published > 50 pear reviewed articles and book chapters in different areas of dentistry.    
My experience is about 25 years in both clinic and research in different areas of dentistry. I love working with people and I try to use my knowled and experience in serving patients.
